  • Temple of the Sun 4871<br />
The tower is built on a carved outcroping of rock. The lower part of the tower has the Royal Tomb in it. The Temple, on the upper portion of the tower has two window, one facing East and the other Southeast. The Winter Solstice (June 21st) the sun will shine through the East window and the Summer Solstice, (Dec. 21st) it will shine through the Southeast Window.

  • Sacred Rock 4956<br />
Located at the very end of Machu Picchu, just before you go on the trail to Huayna Picchu. Sacrifices were made at this rock before the Incas went up Huayna Picchu. Also known as Echo Rock, as it "echos" the form of the Mountain behind it.

The Archaeological complex of Raqchi was built over three periods of Inca History during the 15th Century. The Temple of Wirococha  is believed to have the largest single roof in the Inca Empire with it being 302 feet long, 84 feet wide and the center wall 65 feet high. Needless to say this was a major ceremonial site.
