Sillustani 5812
Sillustani Archiological Site is a14th and 15th century pre-inca burial ground. The tombs are tower like structures built by the Colla people. The correct name of the tower is Ayawasi, ( home of the dead), but are commonly called chullpas. There are 28 burial towers at Sillustani. The whole family was buried together and it was believed that death was just a gateway to another life. When the head of the family died the rest of the family was killed and they were all buried together so they could remain together in the next life as a family.
