The Tzompantli, in Chichen Itza, is also known as the row of skulls. It is a platform 196 feet long and 39 feet wide and is east of the Ball Court. It was erected to exalt death as a passage to new life. On this were the skulls of captured and decapitated warriors on stakes displayed.
