In 1535 the Turkish Pirate Barba Rossa, Red Beard, conquered Capri for the Ottoman Empire and burned the castle built on the hill over looking the town of Capri. The Castle has since been known as Red Beard's Castle. It is now owned by the Sweedish Consulate.
