Kayaks originated in Greenland, with the Innuits. Early 1900's visitors seen them and thought they could go home and build them and did. Kayaks were used for fishing and hunting by the Innuits. Rolling a Kayak was a survival tool, in the event the line was pulled under the kayak, the Hunter could roll the Kayak, to untangle the line.
