Greenland-0478

Hvasley Island, also known as Whale Iland, has the best-preserved ruins of a Norse settlement in Greenland. Viking descendants arrived here around 1000 AD and established a small farming community. Diets were supplemented with hunting whale, seals, walrus and Polar bear to the East and South. The settlement was abandoned around 1450 AD for unknown reasons.
