Avenue of Sphinxes once stretched 1.8 miles to the Karnak Temple from the Luxor Temple. Luxor Temple, built around 1400 BC, is dedicated to the rejuvenation of the king and was the location where many of the kings were crowned. The Opet festival was held yearly and lasted 27 days, giving new energy to the earth and celebrating the link between the pharaoh and the god Amun.
