2nd Battalion 9th Marines
When I got to Vietnam I was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. We were stationed in the Northern I Corp, up by the DMZ just down from where Khe Sanh use to be, at Vandegrift Combat Base, LZ Stud. Being a grunt there was some difficulty taking pictures and getting the film processed in a timely manner, many rolls never got processed and those that did may have spent a month or better in my back pack in hot and humid weather. Those that did survive were not of the best quality and after fifty years in albums did sustain some damage, which I was able to fix somewhat.

Patrolling in Elephant Grass. The grass is taller then we were . The elephant grass was sharp and we would always end up with cuts from the grass that would become infected, JUNGLE ROT. The other obvious problem was ambushes. Once in a while we would get a dog and handler which really help alert us to ambushes.
