2nd Battalion 9th Marines
When I got to Vietnam I was assigned to Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. We were stationed in the Northern I Corp, up by the DMZ just down from where Khe Sanh use to be, at Vandegrift Combat Base, LZ Stud. Being a grunt there was some difficulty taking pictures and getting the film processed in a timely manner, many rolls never got processed and those that did may have spent a month or better in my back pack in hot and humid weather. Those that did survive were not of the best quality and after fifty years in albums did sustain some damage, which I was able to fix somewhat.

China Beach
While at China Beach we got supplies and people to bring the 9th back up to strength. The Salt water was good for healing the jungle rot and other sores we had from Dewey Canyon. We all received orders from command that we were not to mention' to anyone' that we had entered Laos, but the press did get word of it after some time. Michael R. Conroy wrote a book about the operation, DON'T TELL AMERICA!. I got a copy of it right after it came out.
